The 1970's were known as the "Me Generation".
The overflow from the revolutionary 60's was thick with sexual freedom and other indulgences.
Divorce rates were high and many of us had only one parenet to barely keep things under control.
Mar Vista is a Los Angeles West-side neighborhood bordering Venice and Santa Monica and is very close to some very sketchy areas that were crawling with gangs, crime and drugs..
As kids in Mar Vista, we picked up on this freedom vibe and after school we would look for risky adventures until it got dark and people started looking for us.
We would create outlaw skate-ramps and dirt bike tracks, participate in rock throwing wars with kids from rival neighborhoods, dodge the bullets from drive-by shootings and generally do whatever we wanted to do without any supervision.
These are all true stories from that glorious time. It was a time when we would use our imagination and creativity to create the world we wanted to be in
(and often pay the price for the consequences )..
Thanks for checking out my stories.
I hope you enjoy them!
